Big News for Suffolk County and North Shore Orthodontics
At North Shore Orthodontics, we are proud to announce that Dr. Craig Smith, DMD, has been selected as the President of the Suffolk County Dental Society. In addition to his duties here at the office, Dr. Smith will be working to improve dental and orthodontic services throughout Suffolk County.
What is the Suffolk County Dental Society?
The Suffolk County Dental Society is a membership-based organization. The members are dentists and orthodontists in and around Suffolk County, New York.
This peer group organization serves as the local component of the New York State Dental Association (NYSDA) and the American Dental Association (ADA). The membership roster includes over 1,000 dentists. More than 70% of all dentists licensed in Suffolk County are members of this unique peer group, which also includes membership in both the NYSDA and the ADA.
The mission of the Suffolk County Dental Society is quite simple – to expand the art and science of dentistry. As a service organization, they aim to improve the health of people using dental and orthodontic services within the county.
In addition to serving patients, the Suffolk County Dental Society also represents the general interests of members within the dental and orthodontic fields. This includes activism and participation at the local, state, and national levels.
Training Available with Suffolk County Dental Society
In addition to providing a space for peers to interact, the Suffolk County Dental Society provides active training programs for members to stay current in many areas that are important to their work. This ensures patient safety and well-being.
Upcoming training sessions currently scheduled include Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training and certification or recertification.
The Suffolk County Dental Society also provides information on the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This training and information keep members up-to-date on procedures and best practices to keep patients and staff safe and healthy.
The society also brings in guest lecturers to present informational seminars on various subject areas to keep members abreast of changes and improvements within the field of dentistry.
